About Us
The Nelsonville Church of the Nazarene is part of the Nazarene Denomination. We are a holiness church with roots in the Wesleyan-Arminian tradition. Here in Nelsonville, our church strives to be an active part of the community. We have weekly activities specifically focused on adults, teens and children. Additionally, you will find our members around town and active in the community as we join in events like the Parade of the Hills and help organize community events such as the American Red Cross Blood Drive.
Our Board
The church board is composed of members of our congregation who value life with one another and want to work to improve our experiences together. Our board is divided into Stewards and Trustees. The Stewards help keep us focused on our spiritual lives. The work they do is focused on our community involvement, the services we have together, activities during the week and other needs of those who worship with us. Trustees help us keep up with the physical aspects of our church. If there is a light out or a roof needing replaced - our trustees were the ones behind getting it done.
Our Pastoral Family
Pastor Garret and Laura and their family joined the Nelsonville Church of the Nazarene in July 2017. They have three children: Logan, Elliot and Jillian. Pastor Garret and Laura work together in ministry and have served in family pastor roles in New Jersey and South Carolina. The Russells enjoy sports including soccer and basketball and love the outdoors. They enjoy visiting as many state parks as they can, and love to be camping, hiking and exploring new places. Pastor Garret is a licensed minister with the Nazarene Church and is currently working toward his ordination. Laura is in the early steps of working toward ordination as a deacon and is pursuing credentials in Christian Counseling.
